  • NICHOLAS W. SHERMAN – United States, EUVP Alumnus 2015

Nicholas W. Sherman currently serves as the Director for International Energy and Economic Policy at the White House. Prior to his current role, Mr. Sherman worked at the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) as Senior Advisor for DOE’s Office of European and Eurasian Affairs where his portfolios included the U.S.-EU Energy Council and the Group of Seven (G-7) Energy Ministers Meeting, as well as bilateral research cooperation engagement with EU Member States.

  • SUNNY UPPAL – Canada, EUVP Alumnus 2020

Sunny Uppal joined the Government of Canada in 2011 and has recently been appointed Executive Director for Partnerships and Outreach with the Covid-19 Task Force under the Department of Health and Public Health Agency of Canada. Prior to this, Sunny spent 10 years working with the Department of Environment and Climate Change, where he was most recently the Director for Innovation and Youth Engagement, primarily responsible for promoting new and creative approaches towards operations within the Department and developing a strategic approach towards engaging young Canadians on environment and climate change issues.

  • JEFERSON STRAATMANN, PhD – Brazil, EUVP Alumnus 2019

PhD in Production Engineering at University of São Paulo, Jeferson Straatmann is specialized in socio-biodiversity products value chains and collaborative networks. He works at Brazilian Amazon since 2005 with forest products value chains, socio-environmental diagnostics, territorial management plans and social and territorial organization. Jeferson started the work at Instituto Socioambiental (ISA) in 2013, linked to the mission of building sustainable solutions that guarantee collective and diffuse rights and value the socioenvironmental diversity.

Acting Director of the Directorate « International, Mainstreaming and Policy Coordination” in the Directorate-General for Climate Action of the European Commission.
