An eye-opening experience with the EUVP – Mohamed Lotfy

The European Union Visitors Programme (EUVP) was an incredible journey!

My visit to Brussels in May 2024 was an eye-opening experience that provided me with a much broader and deeper understanding of the European Union’s (EU) strategic thinking, priorities, and inner workings, as well as its relationship with Egypt.

I would like to highlight a few aspects that made this programme one of a kind: 

Insightful Discussions – We had the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions with EU policymakers, strategists, and specialists. These interactions offered a well-rounded perspective on the EU’s approach to various challenges and its strategic vision.

Firsthand Observations – The programme included visits to key EU institutions, allowing us to witness the inner workings of the European Parliament, the European Commission, and other essential bodies firsthand.

Cultural Exchange – Connecting with fellow participants from diverse backgrounds fostered a rich cultural exchange. We gained valuable insights from each other's perspectives, experiences, and expectations.

Overall, the EUVP was an invaluable learning experience. It has broadened my knowledge and, more importantly, provided me with a much more granular understanding of the EU. 

I am deeply grateful for having had the opportunity to engage in meaningful discussions with knowledgeable interlocutors who are committed to fostering partnerships that drive positive social change. The EUVP team’s dedication to ensuring that participants gain as much knowledge as possible was evident throughout. I was fortunate to receive an exceptionally well-curated programme tailored to my interests. My heartfelt thanks to the entire team.
