High-Level Roundtable on Cybersecurity

Event date

Understanding, containing, deterring, preventing and responding to cyber threats and attacks is a generational challenge. In the Council's Versailles Declaration of 11 March 2022, European leaders committed to ensuring the Union's preparedness for fast-emerging challenges, such as hybrid warfare, by strengthening collective cyber-resilience and protecting the Union's critical infrastructure from threats.

With this high-level roundtable, the European Parliament's Panel for the Future of Science and Techology (STOA) would like to bring together the best-placed actors to facilitate a fruitful exchange between relevant stakeholders. In its New EU Cybersecurity Strategy and new rules to make physical and digital critical entities more resilient, the European Commission proposed to strengthen supply chain cybersecurity for key information and communication technologies. This event will discuss the most recent European proposals to tackle cybersecurity challenges such as the revision of the NIS Directive, the Critical Entities Resilience Directive, the Proposal for a Joint Cyber Unit and the expected Cybersecurity Resilience Act. The outcomes will add to the series of recent STOA studies on cybersecurity (Cybersecurity in the EU Common Security and Defence Policy (CSDP)Achieving a sovereign and trustworthy ICT industry in the EUStrategic communications as a key factor in countering hybrid threats).
